ICC Partners with T2T: Delivering Fresh Produce to Over 500 Families A Week!
Since April of this year, ICC has been partnering with Table 2 Table, delivering over 20 pounds of fresh produce to individual families each week!
Every week the project grew and we were hitting record numbers– keeping up and handing out grocery bags to over 500 families per week is no easy task! For the winter months the program will focus on providing school children with meals.
We look forward to resuming distribution in April 2016 and coming back stronger and better able to address food justice issues in a very direct way. Again, that is FIVE TONS of food directly into the hands of those who need it most!
Thank so much to our partner Table 2 Table, and to our dedicated volunteers for making it happen!
#JerseyGives Ironbound Community Corporation
We are very excited to have been chosen by the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation and the Victoria Foundation to participate in this year’s Jersey Give Back Guide- the Guide is a state-wide tool that shows givers where to go for the Holiday Season, and will help us build up our on-line giving.
So show us some love and join team #JerseyGives by giving the gift of community this year! Kick off is today: #GivingTuesday!
ICC Cocktail Party: Celebrating Resiliency
October 7th found us together with 250 of our closest friends, supporters, sponsors and extended ICC family at the Newark Club, where we Celebrated Resiliency and honored champions that uplift our communty. Recognizing Ron Beit and AeroFarms for their community-minded economic development was an easy choice for us, as was honoring Bill Good, of the HUD Tenants’ Coalition, with the Sr. Carol Johnston Community Service Award.
Cheers to our sponsors and guests for making the event such a success!
Harvest Festival 2015
The corner of Ferry and St. Charles streets is not only the site of our new urban farm, but was also home to this year’s Harvest Festival- drawing in over 300 people throughout the day!
We hosted all types of activities from a scarecrow factory, to a clothing drive, and even a cooking contest featuring over 40 dishes, made with ingredients from our own community gardens and T2T produce!
We were also able to give out medals to our Environmental Justice Leaders and painted lots and lots of pumpkins…
ICC participated in Lights on Afterschool on October 22nd, a worldwide day of focus on the importance of quality afterschool time.
We were one of 8,000 communities highlighting our program that keeps kids safe, inspires them to learn and helps working families.
Our kids’ activities were focused on things STEM, and we are pretty sure we have a program full of future engineers- they built a bookstand out of paper!
Newark is negatively impacted by global trade due to our proximity to the second-largest Port in the nation.
We want the nation to understand that communities across the U.S. are standing against diesel emissions.
Sign the petition so the EPA hears our message of ZERO EMISSIONS NOW!
All who came out in support of our Environmental Justice Team Members’ fundraiser/mixer on Nov. 11th!
A great time was had by all in support of their trip to Paris for the UN Talks on Climate Change. ICC is proud to be a part of the delegation put together by Grassroots Global Justice Alliance.
