Since 2001 ICC has been filing free tax returns for the community. This program is in partnership with the IRS and is called the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). We are proud to partner with the IRS, NJ Citizen Action, Investors Bank and Santander Bank to provide this service to the community.
We are also proud to be the only tax assistance provider in Newark that is certified by the IRS to give out Employee Identification Numbers (EIN) and Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITIN), for undocumented residents. This program coneveniently takes place at Investors Bank right here in the Ironbound, on Chestnut. We also provide service -by appointment only- at our Cortand Street Family Success Center.
Help us spread the word that this service is available to all NJ residents. Last year we hit record numbers and filed returns upwards of 2.5 Million dollars- that is money straight to the pockets of our community and that gets spent locally!
For more info on our FREE Tax Prep Program or obtaining an ITIN or EIN call 973-465-0555 ext. 216
Celebrating Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
On Monday, Jan. 18th, ICC gathered about 60 people to an “Artist Café” held in the basement of St. James Church, in honor of Dr. King. Featuring performances by local poets, musicians and youth, the afternoon was jam-packed with information, expression, love and passion for justice. The dream lives on….

Newark is negatively impacted by global trade due to our proximity to the second-largest Port in the nation.
We want the nation to understand that communities across the U.S. are standing against diesel emissions. We’re only 259 signatures away to our goal:
Sign the petition so the EPA hears our message of ZERO EMISSIONS NOW!
