A healthy mind is essential to successful academic and social development. Within our preschool and after-school programs, the Ironbound’s youngest community members have access to this kind of support through Ironbound Community Corporation’s mental health services – a quality program that is free of charge and is offered in their own languages. Experienced staff members are available at both ICC’s preschool and after-school program to work with both parents and children to build on family strengths.
At the Ironbound Children’s Center, mental health professionals address challenges early on by providing play therapy, social skills groups, and support for both parents and teachers.
At our after-school program, staff and mental health professionals engage children’s social and emotional challenges in social skill groups and individual therapy. They tackle issues like bullying and stress in order to complement academic enrichment activities and foster a positive group dynamic.
Staff work hard to bring together key elements — social and emotional well-being, valuable educational experiences, and strong family bonds – to make sure Ironbound’s children receive a quality learning experience.
