Thursday, November 14, 2024
On Thursday, November 14, 2024, Ironbound Community Corporation celebrated its 55th Anniversary Changemakers Gala at the Avenue A Club in Newark, New Jersey. The evening was a resounding success, filled with inspiring moments and reflections on over five decades of service to the Ironbound community.
Newark Council President C. Lawrence Crump brought energy and enthusiasm that set the tone for the event, while Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka delivered a powerful keynote address, reinforcing the importance of community-driven change in uncertain times. The gala also honored representatives of the 29th legislative district: Senate Majority Leader, M. Teresa Ruiz, Assemblywoman Eliana Pintor Marin, and Deputy Speaker Assemblywoman Shanique Speight with the Sr. Carol Johnston Community Service Award for their tireless advocacy on critical issues, including environmental justice, education equity, and family leave benefits.
Special recognition was given to key foundation partners Maher Charitable Foundation, Schumann Fund for New Jersey, and Victoria Foundation whose transformative support of initiatives like Newark Stays continues to impact housing security in our city. Their steadfast dedication exemplifies the spirit of collaboration that drives ICC’s mission.
Thank you to all who joined us in commemorating this milestone and celebrating Newark’s true changemakers. Here’s to the next 55 years of service and impact!
